About Justin Ebner
Justin Ebner, born on August 11, 2001, in San Jose, California, lived a vibrant life deeply rooted in his community. He attended Holy Spirit School and later Bellarmine College Preparatory, where he cultivated his education and personal growth. As a junior at Santa Clara University, pursuing a major in accounting, Justin’s life was tragically cut short on November 10, 2021, due to a head injury sustained in an accidental fall while walking home from a fraternity event.
Throughout his journey, Justin’s enthusiasm and achievements illuminated his path and he was excelling at life. Among his many plans, he eagerly anticipated an upcoming spring break trip to Cabo in March 2022. Moreover, he had secured an accounting internship with Ernst & Young, set to take place during the summer of 2022 in San Francisco with friends. He was looking forward to going to New Orleans in March 2022 to attend the Final Four with his dad and so much more.
To honor and celebrate Justin’s well-lived life, we proudly wear the blue “You Matter” wristband alongside the “Live Like Justin” message. In wearing the wristband, we honor Justin’s legacy and strive to emulate his commitment to kindness, compassion, and recognition of the worth of every individual. The wristband serves as a reminder that we can all make a difference in the world, and that even small acts of kindness and affirmation can have a significant impact on the lives of those around us.
“You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.” Justin embodied this philosophy through the wide array of people he impacted with his positivity, compassion, and kindness.

What it Means
YOU MATTER
The “You Matter” message on the other side of the wristband was a concept that was deeply meaningful to Justin. He believed that every individual had inherent worth and value, and that it was important to recognize and acknowledge this fact. The “You Matter” message is a powerful reminder that every person is important and deserving of love and respect.
In 2019, Justin purchased “You Matter” hoodies for himself and his friends who he felt needed them the most. In a letter to one of his friends, he wrote, “I know you also have your own issues at times so whenever you need any support just put on this hoodie and remember that you matter to me and other people and that even when you are feeling low, you need to remember that you are strong and have persevered through so much.”
The “You Matter” message serves as a call to action, urging us all to recognize the worth and value of every person we encounter. It is a reminder that our words and actions have the power to lift others up and to make a positive impact on their lives. For Justin, this message was not just a slogan, but a way of life. He lived each day with the belief that every person mattered, and his actions and words reflected this conviction.
In wearing the “You Matter” wristband alongside the “Live Like Justin” message, we honor Justin’s legacy and strive to emulate his commitment to kindness, compassion, and recognition of the worth of every individual. The wristband serves as a reminder that we can all make a difference in the world, and that even small acts of kindness and affirmation can have a significant impact on the lives of those around us.
